Thoseghar Waterfall & Sajjangad Trek with Chalkewadi Wind Mill.

Originally known as Murumbdev, Rajgad Fort was captured and developed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1647. He renamed it Rajgad, meaning the “King of Forts,” and made it the capital of the emerging Swarajya.

Rajgad remained the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for nearly 26 years, witnessing several important events in the history of Swarajya. The fort also holds a special place in the life of Maharaj, as Rajaram Maharaj, his younger son, was born here.

With its massive Padmavati Machi, Suvela Machi and Sanjivani Machi, Rajgad showcases the remarkable military planning and fortification techniques of the Maratha era. Its strategic location offered excellent views of the surrounding Sahyadri ranges and helped protect the capital from enemy movements.

Today, Rajgad stands as more than just a trekking destination—it is a journey into the history, courage and vision of Swarajya.
